Sergeant Kranz is one of the first black soldiers to make it to the top of the enlisted ranks,[1] and a recurring character in the Forrest Gump novel and sequel.
Forrest first serves under Sergeant Kranz when the latter is a company commander in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Later, he meets Sergeant Kranz who is serving at an Army base in Coalville.
