George Wallace was the governor of Alabama whose Stand At The Schoolhouse Door at the University of Alabama was witnessed by Forrest during the early 60's. This was an attempt to keep black students from getting an education. President John F. Kennedy had military force guard the school as well. Later, Governor Wallace tries to run for president, but fails when he gets shot, and gets paralyzed. But he doesn't die.
