This category is for things that exist or existed in real life, but are named differently from their real life counterparts.
Many elements of the Forrest Gump universe are fictional and exaggerated, however some (particularly in the Gump & Co. novel) are spelled entirely differently from their real world counterparts. These elements are things that should be placed in this category (using Template:Canon).
One could argue that the differences in spelling are just products of Forrest's colloquial manner of writing, which does constantly involve minor misspellings. It's difficult to argue against this, but it is worth notice that the Gump & Co. novel includes several newspaper clippings which, in-universe, contain professional spellings, and at least some of these clippings validate the odd spellings seen throughout the novel.
