The subject of this article pertains to the canon of the Forrest Gump film but not the novel.

The film Forrest Gump begins at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia. Forrest, waiting for a bus, converses with the people sitting next to him, and the majority of the film constitutes Forrest's narration of his life story to these people.

An image of Forrest sitting at a bus stop served as the theatrical release poster for Forrest Gump, and though there was no such bus stop in the novel, this image was adapted for later versions of the novel.
